What to Expect
The engagement ceremony is an intimate gathering of close family and friends to formally celebrate and bless our union before the wedding.
The Ceremony
The ceremony begins with the two families coming together to confirm the alliance. The priest reads the lagnapatrika — the formal document containing the names of the couple, their lineage, and the agreed wedding date and time (muhurtham). Gifts such as fruits, sweets, clothes, and jewelry are exchanged between the two families. The couple is then blessed by the elders using akshinthalu.
Food & Drinks
A celebratory meal will be served following the ceremony. As this ceremony holds religious and cultural significane, this will be a fully vegetarian meal and likewise no alcohol will be served.
Duration
The ceremony will begin at 10 am and is expected to last around 2-3 hours. Following the cermony, there will be time to mingle, eat, and celebrate together before the event concludes around 2 pm.
Engagment Dress Code
Dress Code: Formal
Guests are asked to wear South Asian or Western formal. While there is a color theme, guests have the option to join in. Those on the groom’s side will be wearing light pink, while the bridal party will be in cream.
